Travel, while rewarding, is not without its hazards. If disaster strikes while you’re away, you need to know that you’re going to be okay.
That’s where we come in. We understand that when you travel, you don’t want to worry about a thing! But things happen – things you least expect, even if you’re a well-prepared traveller. And if they do, we’ll be there for you – whenever and wherever you need it. Our health professionals are there to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What to do if you have a travel emergency
Each travel claim situation varies with the type of policy you’ve bought and the insurance coverage that you’ve chosen. We will guide you and make sure that you’re okay.
- If you have a medical emergency, we’ll help you. If you don’t speak the language of the country you are visiting, don’t worry. Our multilingual professionals can co-ordinate on your behalf with a local doctor or nurse to arrange the care you need. We can also contact your family or employer at home and arrange any other assistance you need.
- If you have to cancel your trip and you purchased your travel insurance from a travel agent, call your travel agent to cancel your trip and then call us as soon as possible.
If you have your policy or certificate number handy when you call – it will make it easier for us to help you. This number should be on the confirmation page from your travel agent or on your certificate of insurance if you’ve bought your insurance through a Royal Bank branch. If you don’t have your policy or certificate number, don’t worry, we’ll still be able to care for and assist you in your time of need.
